General Produce Information
Starting in the month of July we open for our summer season of selling farm fresh produce. The main types of produce we almost always
have are sweet corn and tomatoes. In addition to corn and tomatoes we also raise and sell cantaloupes, watermelons, cucumbers,
pickles, yellow squash, zucchini and green beans. Some other things that we sell which we don't grow are peaches, potatoes, and
onions. If you're looking for something specific always be sure to call to make sure we have it.
Most of the time we have sweet corn on the first day we open (around July 4th). Call us or check with the website to make sure.
Our sweet corn is fresh pulled every morning (rain or shine). The varieties of our sweet corn varies every 3-5 days.
We grow white and bi-color varieties (bi-color has both yellow and white kernels on the same ear). Call to find out what kind we
currently have. If you plan on freezing corn we suggest that you wait until late July because that's when our best varieties come in,
again call to get the best idea of when that may be.
When we first open our tomatoes usually are not ready yet so we get them from some farmers we know from Tennessee. These tomatoes
aren't your average store bought hot house tomatoes. We get them directly from a producer in Tennessee, they're field grown and vine
ripened.
Around mid-July we start getting our own tomatoes in. We grow both red and yellow tomatoes and always try to keep them in stock. The
red tomatoes we grow are a variety called Empire, and the yellow tomatoes are Carolina Gold. In addition to the red and yellow
tomatoes we also try to keep a supply of green tomatoes in stock.
